The Haller Fountain in Port Townsend WA is a beloved community landmark.

The Haller Fountain in the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend WA is a beloved community landmark. It was dedicated by community leader Theordore Haller in 1906 to commemorate pioneer families and family members. At the dedication he read a poem about the Greek sea nymph Galatea, and the statue has been known by that name ever since. Over the years it was damaged and recast in 1992. The fountain is a favorite gathering place for locals and visitors. It is the site of the Christmas tree lighting, people gather for photos there, and she is often adorned with flowers. The Port Townsend Main Street Program held a 100th birthday party for her in 2006. Recent upgrades include new paving, plantings and a drinking fountain (that is for four-legged friends too). These improvements are in honor of Steve Corra, a long-time city parks employee who passed away in 2006. It was Steve's dream that the Haller Fountain be finished and become a beautiful community plaza. His dream is coming true.
